Meet the Team
Meet the team
Lesley Roberts - Driving Instructor, Company Director & Secretary
I qualified as an ADI 3 years ago in Milton Keynes where I lived until January 2008 when I moved to St Helens. Business went really well when I moved up here and now I am lucky enough to work within a team. Teaching people to drive is a real passion, as is running the business and I thoroughly enjoy it. I think the dedication to providing honest services has paid off and I love working with my colleagues who have the same type of ethics as I do. Outside of work I am kept busy by my two daughters - Chloe 4 and Megan 8 months. Running around after them keeps me fit - which is really lucky as I joined the gym with good intentions 4 months ago but have never actually been for a workout!! ;-)
Sue Rathbone - Driving Instructor & Company Director
I have been teaching people to drive in St Helens for over 6 years. I enjoy my work as it is varied and I meet so many lovely people. Achieving a test pass is the best feeling in the world, the novelty never wears off. As well as being an instructor I am one of the Company Directors of Driving Instructors (UK) Ltd, we are currently working hard on new ideas and growing our business which is very exciting. Outside of work my main interest is looking after my three horses who I keep on a farm in Burtonwood. I also enjoy my annual trip to Edinburgh with my husband (Nick) and the rest of our family.
Jackie Morrison - Driving Instructor
When I qualified as an Instructor last year I decided to work with Lesley and Sue rather than on my own. I have learned as much working with them as what I did in my initial training and my fantastic pass rate is the result. I am thrilled with choosing to be a driving instructor and with the benefits of working in a friendly team; this in return benefits my pupils. Previously I was a pub manager for a while whilst I did my instructor training and before that I was a member of the Excel Airways Cabin Crew which was also a fantastic job as I got to travel the world. These days I am satisfied with travelling around St Helens instead - I don't get jet lag from doing that!
Emma Cottington - Driving Instructor
Becoming a driving instructor was something I wanted to do from the moment I started to learn to drive 8 years ago. I loved to drive and that atttitude never went once I passed my test, so I wanted to share that passion and pass it on to people who wanted to learn to drive just like I did. So as soon as I was old enough and had held my license long enough I began my training and worked very hard to achieve my dream job. At the time I had a full time job as a store manager in retail and I had a very young baby, but with the support from my husband and family I soon qualified and chose to work with Lesley and the team as they have the same passion as I do. Now I am part of a team who work very well together to deliver an excellent service, and I love my work.
Ken Dodd - Driving Instructor
Qualifying as an ADI four years ago, has been one of the best choices in career I have ever made. Teaching people to drive is a very enjoyable and rewarding experience, and seeing pupils achieve their goal in passing their test is a great feeling for the both the pupil and the Instructor. I am looking forward to working with Lesley, Sue and the team and sharing their passion with Monarch School of Motoring. Away from work, I enjoy cooking, I like travelling when I can, I like watching sport and listening to music
Dave Houghton - Driving Instructor
