Provisional
Provisional
To enable you to learn to drive you will need to apply for a provisional licence, you may do this when you are 17 years old or up to 3 months before the date of your 17th birthday. You will not actually be able to take practical lessons or take your theory test until your provisional licence becomes valid on the day of your 17th birthday.
Here are the ways in which you can apply for your provisional licence:
- Online. See www.direct.gov.uk for details and to apply.
- In person or by post. D1 Application Forms can be obtained from your local post office branch.
Either way you will need original proof of identity (such as a passport), a passport style colour photo and a £62.00 fee.
